De Villiers regains top spot in test rankings

DUBAI: South African batsmen AB de Villiers has regained his top spot in the ICC test rankings after Steve Smith’s poor show in the first Ashes test, ARY News reports.

According to the fresh rankings issued by ICC, Steve Smith has moved to second place while AB de Villiers has moved to the top of the ratings. De Villiers’ team mate Hashim Amla is placed at No.3 in the test rankings.

Younis Khan is at No. 7 while Misbah-ul-Haq and Azhar Ali are at 13th and 15th position respectively.

In the bowlers’ ranking, Protean spearhead Dale Steyn tops the table followed by England’s James Anderson and New Zealand’s Trent Boult.

Pakistan’s Yasir Shah has retained his fourth position while Saeed Ajmal is at 11th place.

South Africa tops the team rankings while Australia and Pakistan are at second and third place respectively.
