Defence forces fully prepared to meet any security challenge: PM

He was addressing after witnessing Fire Power demonstration of Pakistan Air Force at Sonmiani range in Balochistan today.

The PM said Pakistani defense forces were fully prepared to meet any challenge to national security.

Mr. Sharif pointed out that the threats faced by the country today were not traditional and they should be viewed in the global and regional environment.

He said PAF has a key role in counterterrorism operations with close cooperation of Army.

Appreciating the combat readiness and professionalism of the air force, he said the significance of air power and its role in achieving strategtic objectives has increased manifold in contemporary era.

The Prime Minister said JF-17 Thunder fighter jet is our national pride and assured that the government will extend all possible assistance to augment the PAF capability.

The Prime Minister also met the mother of martyr pilot Maryam Mukhtar at the ceremony.

He said the entire nation is proud of Maryam Mukhtar, who laid down her life for strengthening the defence of the country.

Attackers nabbed

Inspector General Police SIndh Ghulam HAider Jamali, during his briefing to military and civil leadership told that the culprits involved in attacking military and police personnel in Karachi had been arrested.

He informed that targeted operation  against criminals was going on in the province and hundreds of arrests had been made in this regard.

Meanwhile Governor Sindh Dr. Ishratul Ibad and Interior Minister Chaudhary Nisar Ali Khan also had a meeting.

They agreed to continue the targeted operation against criminal elements in the city.
