ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Defense has expressed its distrust over the action taken by Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) against Geo TV – ARY News reports.
The Minister of Defense, Khwaja Muhammad Asif expressed his dissatisfaction over the punishment given to Geo TV for leveling baseless allegations on Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) and its Chief, Lieutenant General Zaheer ul Islam.
He added that the Defense Ministry reserves the right of making an appeal against the decision.
The offense of framing accusations on key national institutions – a punishment of 15 days of suspension of licenses along with a fine of Rs 10 million and distrust of the Ministry of Defense on the decision.
The Minister of Defense, who is also a claimant in the lawsuit, said that the ministry reserves the right of an appeal against PEMRA’s decision and for the extension of penalty.
Moreover, Khwaja Asif said that the Ministry of Defense is all prepared to answer the claim of Geo TV Network.
