KARACHI: Supreme Court on Thursday dismissed the appeal of Sindh Government regarding delimitation of constituencies for local bodies elections and upheld the verdict of the Sindh High Court on the issue, ARY News reports.
The court in its brief order said that the preparations for local bodies polls should be completed within five months and the schedule of the polls should be announced in November.
The court ordered that relevant legislation and delimitations for the municipal polls should be completed. The bench also ordered announcement of the election schedule before November 15 this year.
Sindh government had filed an appeal in the Supreme Court's Karachi Registry in January against the SHC verdict that had declared the delimitation by the government as void.
