We want to protect parliament and not Nawaz Sharif, he said while speaking to media.
He accentuated that democracy cannot be let derailed.
Shah said decisions should be made in parliaments, rather than through agitation on roads.
He said Pakistan People’s Party struggled for 40 years for democracy in the country.
Earlier this week, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Dr Shireen Mazari met Shah and discussed with him various issues including appointment of the new Chief Election Commissioner (CEC).
The post of the CEC has been vacant and PTI leaders held consultation with Shah regarding the appointment of a suitable person on this key post.
Both the PTI leaders also held a detailed discussion with the opposition leader on the electoral reforms in the country.
