Despicable Me 3 release date announced for 2017

HOLLYWOOD: Despicable Me 3 will be released in June 2017, announced Universal, ARY News has learnt.

Universal have also announced that an animated big screen version of Dr. Seuss' How The Grinch Stole Christmas will be released in November 2017.

The original Despicable Me film was released in 2010, followed by the Despicable Me 2, which has taken an estimated $935 million (£561mn) at the box office since being released last year.

The most recent film in the series sees international villain Gru (voiced by Steve Carell) being recruited by the Anti-Villain League to help deal with a powerful new super criminal.

It has not yet been confirmed which members of the cast, including Carell and Kristen Wigg, will feature in the new film.

Russell Brand, Steve Coogan and Ken Jeong who plays Mr.Chow in the Hangover films also voiced characters in Despicable Me 2.

The film was named in the best animation category at the Golden Globes.

Pharrell William's track Happy, which was written for Despicable Me 2, is currently number one in the Official UK single chart.

Furthermore, it was also recently announced that a spin-off of the animated series called Minions is currently in production.
