DG ISPR urges foreign journalists to highlight improving peace in Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Asif Ghafoor on Tuesday met with a group of Pakistan based foreign media journalists and expected them to highlight improving peace and stability in the country, which offers economic opportunities for foreign investors.

According to an ISPR press release, Maj Gen Asif Ghafoor said that media has a very important role to project the true positivity of Pakistan and added that international community sees Pakistan through their reporters based in the country.

 

While briefing the foreign journalists about security situation and ongoing stability operations in the country, Asif Ghafoor said, “Security situation of Pakistan has largely improved through successful clearance operations and we are heading towards stability.”

He said that having restored peace, Pakistan wishes to see peace beyond borders especially in Afghanistan. Matters related to Pak-Afghan border and situation along Line of Control (LOC) were also discussed during  the interaction, said the army’s media wing.

It is pertinent to mention here that the Chairman of Pakistan Electronic and Media Regulatory Authority (Pemra) Muhammad Saleem Baig called on DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor on November 20.

According to details, the military’s media wing had informed that a meeting took place between the Pemra chief and DG ISPR to discus measures to facilitate Pakistani media in projecting a positive image and narrative of the country.

The two dignitaries had also deliberated on the possible support that could be provided to the local media in effectively countering anti-Pakistan narrative at play through certain foreign media or inimical forces, the statement issued by ISPR read.
