Dhoni ruled out of Asia Cup

MUMBAI: Indian skipper MS Dhoni has been ruled out of the Asia Cup to be played in Bangladesh, because of side strain injury, Diniesh Karthik will replace Dhoni as wicketkeeper for the event while Virat Kholi will lead the team, ARY News reported.

According to sources, Dhoni has suffered a grade-one strain to his left side during the second Test against New Zealand in Wellington and will undergo rehabilitation for ten days.                 

Kohli has led India in eight ODIs previously, and India had won seven of those matches.        

The 5-time champions of Asia Cup will play their first match against Bangladesh on February 26.

Pakistan is the defending champion of Asia Cup and arch rival Pakistan-India will meet each other in the match scheduled on March 2.
