ABBOTTABAD: At least 40 patients died at Ayub Medical Complex after the doctors halted rendering their services and went to strike allegedly over corruption and illegal recruitment which entered into its fifth day on Saturday, ARY News reported.

The doctors have reportedly boycotted the OPDs, operation theatres and ward rounds, leaving the patients to suffer. The strike has backing of medical professors, associates, and other assistant professors.

The doctors demanding immediate suspension of Chairman Board of Governors Javed Panni, Secretary Board Major (retd) Siddiq, Director Brigadier (retd) Ajmal and College Dean Dr. Azizul Nisa Abbasi.

The doctors association said that it will continue the strike by closing all OPDs and halting other services in the hospital until their demands are not met.

So far, 40 patients have reportedly lost their lives in last four days due to unavailability of doctors as the negotiations between the doctors and hospital administration have remained inconclusive.

No government official has taken notice of the plight of the patients in the hospital so far, leaving them to suffer more in hapless condition.
