Doors of dialogue with Nawaz never shut: Shah
ISLAMABAD: Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed Shah on Tuesday said he has asked the government to finalize the name for the caretaker prime minister for the upcoming general elections by May 15.
Speaking to the media, he regretted that the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) instead of conveying its names for the caretaker prime minister to him made them public. What is the use of meeting PTI leaders now, he asked.
He said he was in talks with PTI leaders over the names and that it was the responsibility of the prime minister and opposition leader to unveil the names for the caretaker PM.
In reaction to the Lahore High Court’s ruling banning the airing of remarks against the judiciary, Shah said the right to freedom of speech should not be used against the state.
He said doors were never shut on dialogue with any party, including former premier Nawaz Sharif, adding that they always believed in dialogue with political forces.
A day earlier, the PTI mooted three names, which are; former commerce minister Abdul Razzaq Dawood, former chief justice of Pakistan Tasadduq Jilani and former governor State Bank Dr. Ishrat Hussain.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi was tasked to convey this to Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Syed Khursheed who is consulting other political parties in this regard.
