KARACHI: A rain emergency has been imposed in Sindh including Karachi in view of the looming downpour, ARY News reported Thursday.
The rain emergency was imposed following the directives of Sindh Local Government and Information Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon.
Light drizzle in the city on Wednesday turned weather pleasant and the Metrological Department predicted brief spell of light to heavy rains in next 24 hours.
At least five persons were injured in Sanghar last day when heavy rain with thunderstorm lashed the district at night. Nawabshah also recorded heavy downpour, although for a short period, that partially damaged some settlements in the district.
The local government minister Sindh also cancelled leaves of all LG department employees. Karachi Metropolitan Corporation and Karachi Water and Sewerage Board officials have also been issued directives to immediately get cleaned sewerage lines before the rainy season starts.
