LAHORE: The Pakistan People’s Party has appointed former minister for petroleum Dr. Asim Hussain as the party’s Karachi president.
The decision was made by chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during a consultative meeting in Lahore. Senator Saeed Ghani has been appointed as General Secretary, while Deputy Speaker in Sindh Assembly Shehla Raza was named as Information Secretary.

Dr. Asim Hussain on Tuesday visited a private hospital to meet his mother who is suffering from pneumonia and chest infection and is currently under treatment.
He was recommended to undergo hydrotherapy sessions, but he rather choose to spent time with his mother and said that he would visit his hospital in Clifton to seek treatment.

Former President Asif Ali Zardari has expressed hope that Dr. Asim Hussain would be released on bail soon stating that he has been a soft target.
Several other politicians including Karachi mayor Waseem Akhtar, Pak Sarzameen Party leader Anees Qaimkhani, Mutahida Quami Movement’s Rauf Siddqui and PPP’s Abdul Qadir Patel have already been released on bail in the terror facilitation case involving Dr. Asim Hussain.
