The senior Pakistan People’s Party leader is facing charges of abetting terrorists and corruption.
However, Dr Asim’s counsel rejected the charges. The court will summon witnesses and evidences in the next hearing.

According to the prosecution, Dr Asim, misused his authority as a federal minister, in collusion of other accused, illegally curtailed gas to the agriculture sector to benefit a particular group associated with the fertilizer industry.
In February, the accountability court hearing a corruption case against Dr Asim had sent him to prison while seeking the investigation report. Apart from terrorists’ facilitation charges, Dr Asim is facing an inquiry into alleged misuse of authority in embezzlement of public money.

On November 30, NAB had sought permission from the anti-terrorism court, where cases against Dr Asim were being heard, to question the former petroleum minister in connection with graft references.
Dr Asim was first arrested on August 26, 2015 on corruption charges and facilitation of terrorists.
