Police officer killed in Peshawar gun attack

PESHAWAR: A Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) was killed on Saturday after unknown armed men opened fire on him outside a mosque in Peshawar, ARY News reported.

According to details. DSP Riaz-ul-Islam was coming out of the mosque located at Charsadda Road with his son when  three armed assailants opened fire at him. His son was also injured in the incident and has been shifted to hospital in a critical situation.

This is said to be the third assassination attempt on Riaz, who has earlier survived a gun and bomb attack. He was working for counter-terrorism department of police.

Bilawal Bhutto condemns killing of DSP

Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has strongly condemned the killing of a DSP in an attack by terrorists in Peshawar.

Bilawal Bhutto Zardari prayed to Almighty Allah to rest the departed soul in eternal peace and grant courage and fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.

He also directed PPP Khyber Pakhtunkhwa leadership to visit the bereaved family to express complete solidarity with them and assure them that PPP regards each and every martyr who falls in the fight against terrorism as it own because being the biggest victim of terrorism the PPP understands the depth of their pain.
