Dystopian survival game ‘We Happy Few’ to release on PS4 next year

Gearbox Publishing has made the joyous announcement that it will launch the indie survival horror video game We Happy Few on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows on April 13, 2018.

Meredith Hershey, Community Coordinator, Gearbox Publishing made the announcement in a blog post about partnership with Compulsion Games for gamers worldwide after almost a year.

We Happy Few is a first-person action adventure game that takes place in the fictional English town of Wellington Wells, a dystopian and drug-fuelled society in the alternative 1960s timeline in the events after World War II, which is now on the verge of collapse.

The residents of the city, seeking to forget the war and block out their traumatic memories begin taking a hallucinogenic drug known as “Joy,” a literal happy pill which leaves them easily controlled and lacking morals.

Playing through the storylines of three distinct citizens with wildly different perspectives, gamers will explore Wellington Wells, encounter intriguing characters, and uncover a few secrets along the way.

They can take advantage of each character’s playstyle, whether by choosing to fight their way out of conflicts, sneak past unseen, or blend in with the townsfolk to avoid their suspicion.

We Happy Few’s psychedelic, retro-futuristic world is procedurally-generated, so gamers will never experience the same game play twice.

“The world of Wellington Wells is populated by colourful, complex characters and rich questlines, making each playthrough a unique experience,” said Hershey.

We Happy Few will be available for $59.99 on PlayStation 4 on April 13th, but gamers can pre-order to get a discount and the in-game Jolly Brolly parasol weapon till it is launched.

Those gamers who seek further adventures in Wellington Wells can purchase the We Happy Few Deluxe Edition to access the DLC Season Pass which consists of three pieces of additional game content.

Hershey said they are so thrilled to be partnering with Compulsion Games to publish We Happy Few, cannot wait to share more information.
