ECP adjourns hearing of disqualification references against Imran, Jahangir

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) adjourned the hearing of disqualification references against PTI leaders Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen till 22nd February, ARY News reported.

An ECP bench headed by Chief Election Commissioner Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan hearing disqualification references against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan and central leader Jahangir Tareen.

Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) lawyer Akram Sheikh did not appear in the hearing. A junior counsel pleaded to the bench to adjourn the hearing till Friday as his senior has to complete the arguments in the case.

He said that Akram Shaikh could not appear in the hearing as he was busy in a Supreme Court case.

The chief election commissioner, in his remarks, said that the proceedings of the case will be delayed further.

One of the commission members Justice Irshad Qaisar said that ECP is being blamed for the delay in deciding the cases.

The ECP bench adjourned the hearing of the references till 22nd February.
