ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday has once again directed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to submit detailed party funding records till September 11, ARY News reported.

ECP was hearing a petition filed by former PTI worker Akbar. S Babar with regard to party’s foreign funding case.

During the proceedings today, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (retd) Sardar Muhammad Raza said that PTI’s defiance to comply the orders was beyond his understanding.

“Why is PTI apathetic to implement ECP’s orders,” CEC queried.

The PTI counsel reiterated that the matter is under observation in the Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Hearing the arguments, CEC ruled that ECP would stop proceedings in the case if the court issues stay order.

Adjourning the hearing till September 11, the CEC asserted that ECP is giving last chance to the party for submission of the records.

It merits to mention here that a petition was filed by a PTI former leader Akbar Babar earlier this year alleging that PTI Chief Imran Khan has committed contempt of court in his comments on the party funds, claiming that he had not apologized to the ECP over his comments instead his counsel did so in his personal capacity.
