ECP to issue notification of successful candidates on August 9

ISLAMABAD: Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will issue notification of all successful candidates by Thursday August 9.

According to the ECP, independent candidates will have to join any political party within three days of the notification. The number of seats won by all political parties in general elections will become clear by Tuesday.

The notification regarding successful candidates against reserved seats will be issued on Wednesday. The are sixty seats reserved for women and ten reserved for non-Muslims in the National Assembly.

The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is likely to get five out of ten seats reserved for minorities in the National Assembly. Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) are expected to get two seats each, while Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) may grab one minority seat.

The inaugural sessions of the National and provincial assemblies will be summoned after notifications of all successful candidates are issued.

ECP has also directed all political parties to submit consolidated bank statements for the financial year 2017-18 by August 29.

According to ECP, the political parties in terms of Section 210 of the Election Act 2017, are required to provide their annual income, expenses, source of funds, assets and liabilities.

The statement of accounts can be submitted in Form-D prescribed by the Election Act 2017. The printed forms are available at the Election Commission Secretariat, and the offices of the provincial election commissioners.

The commission said that statement shall be delivered to the secretary ECP through office bearer of the party authorised by the party leader. As per prevision of Rule 156 of the Election Rules, 2017 the statement received through post, fax, courier service or any other mode will not be entertained.
