ECP postpones election in PK-99 after death of PTI’s Iramullah in suicide attack
ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has postponed the election in PK-99 constituency of Dera Ismail Khan following martyrdom of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ikramullah Gandapur in a suicide attack.
The ECP said it will release schedule for election in the constituency later.
Meanwhile, a high-level committee has been formed, headed by Counter Terrorism Department, to investigate the tragic incident. The probe committee comprises a superintendent police, senior superintendent police headquarters and deputy superintendent of police and representatives of Intelligence Bureau, Inter Services Intelligence and Military Intelligence.
Caretaker Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Dost Mohammad Khan has directed the investigation team to present report on the incident.
Former minister Sardar Ikramullah Khan Gandapur was killed in a bomb blast near his car in DI Khan on Sunday.
