According to the election commission, deployment of returning officers in Karachi by-elections from province other than Sindh was not possible.
PTI’s application is non-admissible in the regard, said the ECP.
Imran Ismail of PTI had urged the election commission that polling staff and returning officers were allegedly affiliated with MQM, hence the entire staff should be brought from any other province. The ECP rejected the PTI claim.
The by-polls are scheduled to be held on April 23 and contesting candidates from PTI, MQM and Jamaat-e-Islami are vying for the seat which had fallen vacant after MQM former MNA Nabeel Gabool had resigned.
