ECP forms teams to monitor campaign for polls

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday constituted teams to monitor political parties’ campaign for coming general elections.  

According to the Commission, the teams have been empowered to take action in case of any violation of its code of conduct for the polls.

With the general elections around the corner, political parties’ campaign to woo voters is gathering momentum.

Election candidates are visiting their respective constituencies, addressing corner meetings and rallies to canvass people to vote for them.

The process of printing ballot papers for the polls began on Sunday as per the schedule.

More than 210 million ballot papers will be printed for the polls at a cost of Rs two billion. All arrangements have been finalized in this regard, according to the sources.

The printing work will be completed under the supervision of the army in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.

The final lists of candidates have been displayed outside the offices of the returning officers and district returning officers across the country.

General Election 2018

Mostly, a three-pronged contest across the country apart the MMA, a grouping of the influential religious parties, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the fourth major player in the upcoming polls on July 25.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are being seen as two top contenders in general elections neck to neck in battlefield province Punjab, while Pakistan People’s Party trailing behind them.

Moreover, regional players are competing in southwestern province Balochistan apart of a large number of independent candidates across Pakistan for the National Assembly and provincial assemblies seats.
