According to sources, the president of Pakistan will announce the election date after consulting the ECP, under the proposed amendment in the law.
The limit for electoral expenses for the National Assembly will be Rs 6 million. A member may lose his membership for 60 days for submitting wrong details of assets. Returning officers will completely work under the ECP.
It is proposed that the period for scrutiny of candidates be extended from seven days to 15 days.
It has also been suggested that a 3-year imprisonment be doled out to a candidate furnishing false details about his/her assets.
