ECP to release revised list of candidates today

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) will release the revised list of the candidates for the national and provincial assemblies’ seats on Thursday (today), ARY News reported.

According to the election schedule for July 25, General Election, the nomination papers can be withdrawn on June 29 (tomorrow).

The candidates are bound to submit their party tickets by Friday(tomorrow).

The Election Commission of Pakistan will release the final list of the candidates tomorrow (Friday), while election symbols will be allotted to the candidates on June 30th.

The deadline for Appellate Tribunals to decide appeals against rejection or acceptance of nomination papers of candidates ended yesterday.

The polling for general elections in Pakistan is scheduled to be held on July 25.

The ECP formed 20 tribunals to hear and decide appeals against rejection or acceptance of the nomination papers with eight tribunals for Punjab, six for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, four for Sindh, and two for Balochistan province.

Mostly, a three-pronged affair across the country apart of the influential religious parties grouping, MMA, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the fourth major player in the upcoming polls on July 25.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf are being seen as two top contenders in general elections neck to neck in battlefield Punjab, while Pakistan People’s Party trailing behind them.

Moreover, regional players are competing in southwestern province Balochistan apart of a large number of independent candidates across Pakistan for the National Assembly and provincial assemblies seats.
