Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W) being celebrated today

KARACHI: Birthday of Hazrat Mohammad (S.A.W) Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W), is being celebrated with religious fervor across the country today, ARY News reports

Processions and rallies will be taken out across the country by social and religious groups whereas Mehfil-e-Milad and other gatherings will be held in which the life and the teachings of the Holy Prophet (S.A.W) will be highlighted.

A 21 gun salute was given by the Pakistan Army on the occasion.

The Federal Government had announced a public holiday on the festive occasion. Educational institutes, markets and government offices will remain close today. Colorful lightings and decorations were seen at nearly every street of the country.

The world record of lighting the most number of candles on Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi (S.A.W)  was broken last night as 12,500 oil lamps were lit in Karachi’s area of Numaish Chowrangi. The record was previously held by India with 12, 127 oil lamps in 2012. 

Strict security measures have been taken by the Federal Government to curb any unforeseen event throughout the day. The procession routes have been sealed with containers whereas cellular services have been partially suspended in the country.
