ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted that the moon, marking the advent of Shawwal month, is likely to be sighted on the evening of June 15 (Friday), meaning that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on June 16 (Saturday) across Pakistan.

There are very thin chances of the Shawwal moon to be sighted on June 14 (Thursday), according to the Met department.

May 17 marked the beginning of the holy month of Ramazan in Pakistan. People across the country have been observing the month of Ramadan with utmost piety and devotion.

While in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, the crescent was not sighted on May 15 (Thursday). Therefore, the month of Ramazan in these countries and elsewhere in the world began on the same day as in Pakistan.
