Electoral reforms need of the time, says Sirajul Haq

LAHORE: Jamaat Islami (JI) chief Sirajul Haq has called the electoral reforms necessity of the time and warned against any unconstitutional step, ARY News reported on Saturday.

JI emir talking to media after meeting with Governor of Punjab Chaudhry Sarwar at Mansoora, Lahore, highlighted the need of an electoral system which ensures no rigging allegations after an election.

Sirajul Haq said that all political parties believe in the supremacy of the constitution and the parliament. He said the demands of Pakistan Tehreek i Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) are positive and urged the federal ministers to observe restraint.

Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar lauded the role of Jamaat Islami and called all political parties to join hands.

He called the media to avoid to make a pitch which terms a party victorious and the other defeated.

He lauded the offer of the Speaker National Assembly Ayaz Sadiq for recounting of votes of his constituency.

He said democracy is solution to all political problems adding that the military also not wanting an unconstitutional change in the country.
