Electricity crisis briefly discussed in CCI's meeting

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif chaired the meeting of Council of Common Interests (CCI) in Islamabad on Thursday, ARY News reported.

The meeting remained focus on the electricity crisis of the country. There were many differences of opinions observed over the issue of electricity bills, sources said. At last they agreed to cut electricity balance of Provinces from NFC award and this recovery would be carried on July 1.

 In the meeting, the provinces allowed Finance Ministry to receive 25 percent amount of electricity bills in advances. They agreed to pay in advance the 25 percent of electricity bills to the Finance Ministry. Later within 60 days the deducted amount will be adjusted. 

CCI gave assurance to the provinces that the staff of various departments transferred after the 18th Amendment will be absorbed and legislation will be made in this regard.

Meanwhile, the CCI has decided that the provincial governments will forward their suggestions to the center regarding legislation about restoration of Executive Magistracy System within 15 days.

It was also decided in the meeting that Balochistan government will nominate the Chairman of Gwadar Port Authority as well as 50 per cent representatives in the authority will be from Balochistan.

Chief Ministers of all four provinces were present on the occasion.
