Electricity supply to parliament, SC, other depts disconnected

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad Electric Supply Company (Iesco) has cut off power supply to defaulting government buildings including Supreme Court, ARY News reported Tuesday.

Iesco took the action on orders of State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali. However, the Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has ordered immediate restoration of electricity to Supreme Court of Pakistan.

Government buildings whose electricity supply has been suspended also include Pak Secretariat, Cabinet Division and parliament lodges.

Sources told that the Election Commission of Pakistan was also among the defaulters where power supply has been cut off.

It is learnt that orders are passed by the Ministry of Water and Power, seeking disconnection of electric supply of all defaulting government buildings/institutions by evening today (Tuesday).

The ministry reiterated that indiscriminate action will be taken against defaulters.
