England won the toss and chose to bat first in the match.

Batting first, England scored 142 runs on the board with Moeen Ali being the highest scorer with 41 runs from 33 balls with the help of four boundaries and a six.

James Vince and David Willey contributed 22 and 20 runs respectively for the team.

Afghan spinners Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan got two wickets while Amir Hamza and Samiullah Shenwari dismissed one English batsmen as well.

Afghanistan, chasing 143 runs to win, fell 15 runs short of victory as they could managed 127/ 9 in their 20 overs.

Shafiqullah scored an unbeaten 35 runs from 20 balls with four fours and two sixes to his name while Samiullah Shenwari and Noor Ali Zadran made 22 and 17 runs for the side.

Pacer David Willey and Adil Rashid grabbed two wickets while Chris Jordan, Moeen Ali and Ben Stokes took a wicket each in the fixture.

Moeen Ali was named the Player of the match.
