Ex-CJ Iftikhar files Rs 20bn defamation notice against Imran

ISLAMABAD: Former chief justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary has filed a Rs 20 billion defamation notice against PTI chief Imran Khan for ‘damaging statements’ he hurled against the former, ARY News reported Thursday.

In a defamation notice, the ex-CJ demanded Imran to withdraw his statements within 15 days and tender apology for his ‘baseless’ statements.

The counsel of Chaudhary, Nasir Kiyani, said services of his client for the country were commendable. The services of Mr. Chaudhary were praised not in the country, but across the world, said a lawyer.

The former CJ said in his statement that Imran’s diatribe had tarnished his image and of the country.
