Explosion in Rohri Cement Factory leaves five dead, six injured

SUKKUR: At least five persons were killed and six others were injured when explosive material in a warehouse in Rohri Cement Factory exploded on Tuesday, ARY News reported.

At least five persons were killed and six Rangers personnel were injured in the explosion.

DIG Sukkur has said that the two members of the Bomb Disposal Squad, a Rangers official and a labourer were killed while defusing explosion at the factory.

Police and ambulances rushed to the site of the explosion. The injured were transferred to Civil Hospital Sukkur for medical attendance. The law enforcement agencies cordoned off the area.

Chief Minister of Sindh Syed Murad Ali Shah has expressed his grief over the losses of life in the incident and sympathized with the aggrieved families, a spokesman said.

The chief minister has also demanded detailed inquiry report of the incident from the IG Police of Sindh. He said why the explosives were placed inside the factory and who brought them.
