KARACHI: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MNA Faisal Vawda on Saturday took credit for halting the suspension of a police officer in a case pertaining to snatching of Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar’s official vehicle, ARY News reported.

Mayor Karachi Waseem Akhtar’s official car was snatched on gunpoint in Karachi’s Defence Housing Authority area. DIG South had suspended station house officer of Darakhshan Police Station after the incident.

“I am thankful to Karachi Police Chief and DIG that they cleared the difference between a common man and a so called VIP Mayor and stopped suspension of SHO and given him target to bust the gang and recover the stolen vehicle,” Faisal Vawda wrote on micro-blogging site Twitter.

He added that he asked the police chief to give three days to SHO to to bust the gang behind the crime “then police chief can do anything as per law”.

“My point is if SHO is not suspended for common man’s misery then why over so called VVIPs. Law has to treat everyone equally. Everyone’s life is equally important,” said Vawda.

The PTI MNA claimed that he he laid the foundation of “Naya Pakistan” by doing this so that a common man and  VIP can be treated in the same way.

Earlier, Vawda had objected upon the police’s decision to suspend the SHO by asking if such a harsh action is taken “when a common Pakistani faces the same?”.
