‘Fake’ SSP escapes as customs officials seize non-custom paid car

KARACHI: A person impersonating as senior superintendent of police (SSP) managed to escape while his car bearing a fake number plate was taken into custody by customs officials, ARY News reported.

According to sources, the officials of customs intelligence intercepted a car near Bilawal Chowrangi. The non-custom paid vehicle with a fake number plate was being driven by the man who impersonated as SSP.

The officials took the car into custody as the impostor managed to flee the spot. He also had two gunmen for his security.

Earlier, on March 18, a traffic warden had caught a fake police official over violation of traffic regulations by a van in Lahore and handed him over to police.

Ramzan, an on-duty traffic warden in Punjab’s provincial capital, caught a person who used to impersonate as a police officer.

The arrested person was identified as Ansar, who failed to prove his credentials as a police officer after being stopped by the traffic warden.

A case has been registered against Ansar by the local police.
