Fall of Dhaka today

TOP NEWS

It has been 42 years since East Pakistan became Bangladesh. Dhaka had fallen to Indian troops on 16th December and   East Pakistan became a new state for the Bengalis. The leaders of Pakistan may have forgotten this tragedy but the Bangladeshi government is still holding prejudice with its counterpart.

The Fall of Dhaka may be a backlash of several events between East and West Pakistan. It may have been a result of the steps taken by the dictator Yahya Khan during his rule or the conspiracies laid by the enemies of Pakistan. Forty two years ago, Indian aggression helped the Bengalis achieved a seperate country of their own.

It was the same Bengalis who supported the creation of Pakistan in 1906 and A.K. Fazl-ul-Haq, a Bengali, presented the Pakistan Resolution on 23rd March 1940 at Lahore. However, India’s tactics were successful in splitting the country despite the distance of thousand miles between each other. It still has not been made clear that which side played the major role in the tragedy but it does start a series of debates whenever the issue is discussed.

There are certain issues between the two countries which is a point of concern for both the countries. Recently, the hanging of Abdul Qadir Mollah of Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) is facing criticisms. The treatment of non-Bengalis in the huts of the Red Cross is also debated issue in several platforms.

Pakistan and Bangladesh have had good relationship with each other on different forums and trade and bilateral issues. Still it remains to be seen how the relations between the two states will proceed.
