Renowned writer Munnu Bhai passes away in Lahore

LAHORE: Renowned columnist, writer and poet Muneer Ahmed Qureshi – familiar as Munnu Bhai – passed away at the age of 84, on Friday morning.

According to the family sources, Munnu Bhai was going through routine kidney dialysis treatment as he was suffering from kidney and cardiac issues for a long time.

His funeral prayers will be offered at Riwaz Garden in Lahore after Asr (evening) prayers and will be laid to rest in Miani Sahib cemetery.

Munnu Bhai received Pride of Performance award by the President of Pakistan in 2007 for his services to the nation.

Born and bred in Gujranwala’s Wazirabad in 1933, Munnu Bhai was affiliated with press for more than 25 years. He also penned television dramas for Pakistan Television.

Paying rich tributes to him, Punjab Chief Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed grief over the demise of the veteran writer and offered condolences to the bereaved family.

His services are unforgettable, which will be remembered for all the time to come, the Chief Minister said.
