Farhan Akhtar replaces Fawad Khan for Battle of Bittora
And who better to take his place in the movie than the uber talented Farhan Akhtar?
Fawad Khan was supposed to star with Sonam Kapoor in Battle for Bittora. The duo of Sonam and Fawad had earlier impressed all with their performances in Khoobsurat. Not only did the movie do well at the box office, but it also spawned a couple of hit songs such as Abhi Toh Party Shuru Hui Hai. Last but not the least, it also earned Fawad Khan a Filmfare award for Best Debut-Male.
Fawad started bagging roles left, right and center after his early success with Sonam. Fawad was cast alongside Sidharth Malhotra, Alia Bhatt and Rishi Kapoor in Kapoor and Sons. He was also cast yet again with Sonam Kapoor in another film titled Battle for Bittora. The Pakistani actor was required to shoot intimate scenes with Sonam Kapoor, to which he frankly said no. This annoyed filmmakers and the producer Rhea Kapoor (Sonam’s sister) and reports started circulating that producers were in talks with Sidharth Malhotra to replace Fawad. However, an inside source revealed the following details:-
“Right after he was signed for the film, Fawad had expressed his concerns to the makers. He was apparently uncomfortable with a few intimate scenes in the script. Both parties tried working it out, but now Fawad has decided that he doesn’t want to be a part of the project,” a source revealed.
Actor, producer, lyricist and director Farhan Akhtar has been finalized to replace Fawad in Battle for Bittora. Farhan Akhtar and Sonam Kapoor starred previously in the film Bhaag Milka Bhaag.
“Farhan and Sonam’s pairing was liked by people in the biopic. They arrived at a joint decision that Farhan would be ideal for the role. Rhea was very happy with the choice and currently they are finalising the deal with him. Official announcements will soon be made,” said the source.
It seems like Fawad might lose out on a couple of high profile projects in Bollywood, owing to his principled stance. Hope all goes well for the Khoobsurat star!
