KARACHI: Calling upon the respondents to refrain from making excessive comments on institutions, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) chief Dr Farooq Sattar on Friday said the court decisions on fate of politicians would have long-lasting effects on the country’s politics.

Addressing an event at a private hotel here, Farooq Sattar urged the politicians to concede the court decisions. However, he said, the court rulings on qualification and disqualification of politicians would certainly have its effects on mainstream politics of the country for long time.

Referring to the ruling party’s comments in wake of the apex court’s decision on Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification case, he said they should accept the supremacy of the law and refrain from launching tirades against the judiciary.

Coming on the Model Town incident, Sattar said his party is in contact with the Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) leadership, adding, an action should be taken against the provincial government if it is responsible for the tragedy.

He also called for a well-defined policy and law with regard to accountability while suggesting that all political parties should be set aside on appointment of a National Accountability Bureau (NAB) chairman.

These remarks by the MQM-P chief were made in the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s decision on Imran Khan and Jahangir Tareen’s disqualification case, exonerating the PTI chief from all corruption allegations and disqualifying party’s General Secretary Jahangir Tareen under Article (1)f of the constitution.
