LAHORE: Punjab Food Authority (PFA) sealed at least four fast food outlets as its crackdown along Lahore-Islamabad motorway entered second day, ARY News reported on Thursday.

According to a statement issued by PFA, food safety teams under the supervision of food safety officers  checked dozens of local and multinational fast food chains and restaurants in the service area of Bhera, Chakri, Kalar Kahar, Sukhekhi and others.

PFA Director General Captain (R) Muhammad Usman monitored the activity of the field teams.

Muhammad Usman later told media that PFA sealed four fast food outlets over usage of stale meat,  filthy cutting boards, outlet’s stinky environment and failure to maintain a hygienic working environment.

The PFA teams also penalized two other fast food outlets for doing business without Halal Food License, using bad quality oil for frying purpose and poor hygienic condition.

DG PFA said that it is a major responsibility of the PFA to ensure the provision of quality food for commuters who daily visited food points located along the motorway .

“Everyone in this food business is on our radar and will not be allowed to violate food safety regulations,” said DG PFA.

It is pertinent to note here that on the first day of crackdown, PFA  sealed one fast food outlet while fined another over violation of food safety regulations.
