Mainstreaming FATA is government’s priority: PM Abbasi
ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has said that mainstreaming Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) is government’s top priority.
He was speaking at a briefing given to him regarding the ministry of states and frontier regions in Islamabad on Wednesday day.
The prime minister said the government is focusing on the rehabilitation of Temporary Displaced Persons. He lauded the sacrifices rendered by the tribal people in fight against militancy.
PM Abbasi was briefed that 52.9 billion rupees have so far been spent on the rehabilitation of TDPs, while this process is going on. It was informed that only 16,000 out of 237,000 TDP families are waiting for repatriation.
The Prime Minister was also briefed that 1.4 million registered Afghan refugees were still staying in Pakistan.
