Fawad wants committee to fix responsibility for ‘economic terrorism’

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting Fawad Chaudhry on Wednesday called for formation of a parliamentary committee to determine as to who is responsible for what he said economic terrorism. 

Speaking on the floor of the Senate, he lashed out at opposition parties, saying they didn’t want anybody to talk about corruption or fake bank accounts in the house. The decorum of the house is important and that it will run smoothly if one stops talking about leader of the opposition, he added.

The minister said taking names of the people who pocketed billions of rupees is necessary. Every day, they say that the prime minister is begging, he said while questioning what else should the government do after what was done in the previous ten years.

He said a parliamentary committee be formed to probe utilization of trillions of rupees of funds by the previous governments.

He said Rs42 trillion were transferred to Balochistan in the previous ten years and a committee should be constituted to ascertain how these funds were utilized in the province.

Fawad said those who were rulers in Balochistan should be asked where all the money was spent. Poor people, who were without blankets and barefoot should be given proper respect as injustice to them amounted to economic terrorism.
