Pakistani actor Fawad Khan will reportedly play a gay man in his upcoming, much talked-about film Kapoor and Sons. It must be borne in mind that Kapoor and Sons also stars Rishi Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra and Alia Bhatt in central roles alongside Fawad.
This is what a source disclosed to a leading Indian daily, “Fawad will play a gay in Kapoor & Sons. And yes, the character will be daringly different from anything we have seen the actor do on screen till date.”
If these rumours and sources are indeed true, then this could be one of the most toughest challenges of all time for the charming Fawad Khan. It’s true, he has ventured into uncharted waters before and amazed everyone with his success. The actor was able to transform himself from a singer to an actor with startling ease and sufficient ease. However, the gay avatar will ensure that his acting skills will also be under scrutiny in Kapoor and Sons.
For Kapoor and Sons, Fawad Khan had also been approached to shoot an intimate scene with Alia Bhatt which the actor had rejected outright. The reasons disclosed were that Fawad did not feel comfortable filming bold scenes and that he did not want to disappoint his fans back home in Pakistan.
Fawad Khan, who became a household name both in India and Pakistan after his sensational show Humsafar became a hit within as well as across the border, also garnered success with his debut flick Khoobsurat alongside Sonam Kapoor. He also became the first ever Pakistani actor to win a Filmfare award for the Best Debut (Male) category.
One cannot deny the fact that Fawad Khan has indeed taken a bold and brave decision if he is indeed to play a gay person in his upcoming movie. Will he be able to pull off yet another remarkable performance or finally succumb to the pressure?
