Fears about Pakistan's nukes safety are baseless: PM Nawaz

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif has said that it is baseless to assume that the country’s nuclear weapons will go into the hands of terrorists, ARY News reports.

Nawaz Sharif, in an interview to Russian news agency, stated that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear state who has 40 years experience of promoting and safeguarding the nuclear industry.

“Pakistan is committed to the principles of nuclear non-proliferation and its policies meet the international standards”, he added.

The Pakistani prime minister, commenting on his country’s ties with Russia, said that the two countries have good relations which are getting further better.

“Pakistan is hopeful of enhancing cooperation with Russia in the sectors of trade, defense and culture”, PM Sharif said.

PM Sharif also said that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) will prove helpful in promoting Pakistan’s ties with India.
