ISLAMABAD: Fedeal Government has passed orders to Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) to monitor social media websites and mobile phones on Monday, ARY News reports.
Pervez Rasheed, Federal Minister for Information, instructed FIA to monitor the social media websites, mobile phone services. They also instructed FIA to arrest the people spreading sectarianism and hatred through these means.
FIA has also been ordered to implement the rules of supervising social media, block the websites fuelling sectarianism and bring the culprits to justice.
The decision has been taken while keeping in view the Rawalpindi Incident.
More than 10 people were killed in sectarian clashes on November 15 on the account of Youm-e-Ashura after which a curfew was placed.
Miscreants had burned the cloth market in Raja Bazaar after the clashes. The clashes went out of hand for the officials and the military was called to control the situation.
