ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over a meeting of the federal cabinet today to discuss 19-point agenda, which includes a proposal to ban telecast of Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket matches in Pakistan.

The banning of the IPL will come as a tit-for-tat move as India had banned the telecast of Pakistan Super League (PSL) matches held in the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan in the aftermath of the Pulawama suicide attack in which over 40 India security personnel were killed.

Besides, the cabinet will approve establishment of the social security and poverty alleviation division of the federal government and appointment of the new chief executive officer of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), according to sources.

The meeting will also extend domestic and international licence of the Vision Air.

The policy on renewal of the licences of the cellular companies for the current year is also a part of the agenda of the cabinet meeting.

The meeting will review a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for promotion of cooperation with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the field of renewable energy. The cabinet will discuss a report on alleged irregularities in the construction of Islamabad Airport. It will likely to decide transfer of the budget of the erstwhile Fata to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The cabinet will endorse a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the Auditor General offices of Pakistan and Malaysia and appointment of three members of the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC).
