Federal cabinet meets today to discuss 17-point agenda

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan will preside over a meeting of the federal cabinet today, ARY News reported.

A 17-point agenda will be discussed during the meeting. The cabinet will accord approval for the sale of wheat for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

It will also review implementation on its previous decision with regard to salaries of Ogra chairman and members.

The cabinet is expected to discuss a proposed procedure for recruitment in government ministries and divisions.

In the previous meeting, the federal cabinet had approved establishment of ‘Naya Pakistan Housing Authority’, taking a step forward to fulfill the promise for construction of low-cost houses.

Fawad Chaudhry, while speaking in a media briefing after the federal cabinet meeting, had said that Prime Minister Imran Khan will inaugurate the housing project by laying its foundation stone in Islamabad on April 17.

He detailed that 135,000 houses will be constructed this year during the first phase of the PM’s housing project, whereas, 110,000 homes will be built in Balochistan.

“25,000 apartments will be built in Islamabad for federal government employees, as well as the construction of a township for fishermen in Gwadar.”

The government has decided to construct a railway station named after Baba Guru Nanak in Nankana Sahib, he added. Moreover, a new board has been formed for Evacuee Trust Property Board while Younus Dagha was given charge of State Life Insurance chairmanship.

It was decided that Bait-ul-Maal will work for treatment of liver-related diseases, Chaudhry said.
