Finance Ministry issues Rs.8 bn for Zarb-e-Azb

ISLAMABAD: The Finance Ministry of Pakistan has issued the first tranche of Rs. 8 billion for well progressing operation Zarb-e-Azb against militants in North Waziristan, ARY News reported.

Spokesman of Finance Ministry Rana Asad Amin told ARY News today that first tranche of Rs. 8 billion out of approved Rs. 15 billion for the Zarb-e-Azb operation has been issued while the remaining Rs.7 billion will be released by the end of this month.

On Saturday (August 16), the Minister of Finance had approved Rs. 15 billion for military operation and Rs. 20 billion for Ministry of Water and Power for the due payment to Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and Pakistan State Oil (PSO).

On June 15, the Armed forces of Pakistan have launched a comprehensive operation against foreign and local terrorists who are hiding in sanctuaries in North Wazirastan Agency on the directions of government.

The operation ZarbeAzb continues to achieve its objectives and is progressing well as the Armed forces have cleared towns of Miranshah, Mirali,Boya, Degan, and area up till Dattakhel.
