Finance Ministry rebuts news of less transfer of funds to Sindh

ISLAMABAD: The ministry of Finance on Thursday clarified that the federal government has immediately transferred the share of all provinces as per the National Finance Commission (NFC) Award, based on revenue collection reported by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), ARY News reported.      

In a statement issued from Islamabad, the ministry refuted the news reports which claim that the federal government has made less transfers to Sindh province during the current financial year 2018-19.

“The federal government has transferred an increase of 9.4 percent to Sindh over the corresponding period of last financial year,” the statement said.

The FBR reported collection of taxes as 2011.4 billion rupees, including arrears of previous year, and transferred funds of worth rupees 275.2 bn to Sindh during the same period of current financial year.

It said during the first half of fiscal year 2017-18, FBR reported a collection of 1845.3 billion rupees including arrears of previous year and the share transferred to Sindh was 251.5 billion rupees.
