KARACHI: More than 20 shops were destroyed by a fire that erupted at a market in Benaras area, ARY News reports on Monday.
According to sources, a fire suddenly broke out in a cloth shop. The inferno intensified as time passed and also engulfed nearby shops as well. More than 20 shops were reduced to ashes by the fire.
However, the fire officials finally got the fire under control after more than four hours of struggle. More than lac rupees worth of cloth was destroyed in the process.
According to fire officials, the rescue process faced problems due to narrow routes. The fire spread due to the strong winds. The officials have not yet found the cause of the fire.
It should be noted that a warehouse of warm blankets and jackets is located in the area.
