First ODI: Pakistan defeats South Africa by 23 runs
CAPE TOWN: Pakistan defeated South Africa by 23 runs in the first One Day International (ODI) here at the Bidvest Wanderers on Sunday, ARY News reports.
Pakistan had won the toss and elected to bat first.
Pakistan’s batsmen continued their dismal performance against the Proteas’ pace attack and it was looking like Pakistan would not even get to 150. However, the debutant tail-enders Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti made a 74 run partnership to take the Green Shirts to 218.
In the reply, South African batsmen crumbled in front of the Pakistan bowling department. Only Jacques Kallis and J.P. Duminy could stick in the crease. The Proteas were bowled out on 195 runs due to some outstanding bowling by Anwar Ali and Bilawal Bhatti.
Anwar Ali was awarded the Man of the Match due to his all-round performance in the game.
The Second ODI will be played on 27th November at Port Elizabeth.
