LAYYAH: Seven people including five children were killed when a school van collided with a truck at Karor Lal Essan city of Layyah district in Punjab on Friday, ARY News reported.

A school van rammed into a truck at M.M. Road due to which seven people including five schoolchildren, the driver and a woman, lost their lives.

Eye-witnesses said that the rescue teams could not reach the scene of the deadly road crash in time. Local people shifted the victims to the hospital, they further said.

However, the injured persons succumbed to their injuries in hospital, they added.

Police said that the incident took place due to poor visibility because of misty conditions in the area.

Fog related incidents claim several lives every year in Pakistan, as accidents take place across the country in the foggy conditions in winter.

Fog is a natural phenomenon and is formed when water vapours in the air begin to condense into liquid water near the surface. The weather phenomenon occurs in the country especially in plains of Punjab and northern parts of Sindh in winter.
